ASSIST members in understanding and responding to complex and rapidly changing legislative and regulatory requirements that affect their business through advocacy and information sharing. 
ENSURE an organizational structure in which members can meet freely to discuss ideas, issues, and industry trends.
PROVIDE opportunities for members to network with potential customers and business partners through conferences, shows, member meetings, and coalitions with other state and local groups.
PROMOTE public understanding of the vital role that member companies play in ensuring environmental protection.
ENHANCE members' image with their customers, state and local government entities, and the public.
VWIA Advocates Through...
- Aggressive representation before legislative bodies.
- Critical issues have included continuing attempts to add a per ton fee on all waste deposited in Virginia landfills, waste districting and wastesheds, flow contro!, utility deregulation, occupational licensing, and recycling,
- Testifying before and providing comments to regulatory agencies on issues that affect the waste industry, including revised municipal solid waste landfill requirements.
- Joining with other groups that have an interest in the waste industry and business issues to promote public awareness and block unfair state and local practices, including participating in Environment Virginia.
